Objectives
- Develop the basic obstetrics and gynaecological knowledge and skill and apply the same in maternity nursing practice.
- Develop ability to function independently as a team member, manager, supervisor, and gynaecological nurse specialist.
- Integrate mental health concepts in providing care to the mother and family.
- Appreciate legal & ethical issues in obstetrics and gynaecological nursing.
- Practice family-centred maternity care and develop interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrate skills in conducting normal and abnormal deliveries and newborn care.
- Identify obstetric emergencies and provide evidence-based care.
- Understand family welfare concepts and guide couples appropriately.
- Describe recent advances in contraceptive technology and birth control measures.
- Incorporate evidence-based nursing practice and identify research areas.
- Teach professionalism to students.

Functions
- Train nursing students in obstetrics & gynaecological nursing skills.
- Celebrate International Day of Midwives, Breastfeeding Week, Safe Motherhood Day, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, etc.
- Conduct continuing nursing education (CNE).
- Promote independent and collaborative research.
- Procure and manage departmental resources effectively.
- Encourage evidence-based nursing practice and research.
- Guide undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
- Extend professional services to the community.
- Reinforce clinical skills related to obstetrics and gynaecology.
- Participate in institutional activities as educators, managers, and researchers.

Laboratory Objectives
- OBG laboratory is equipped with simulators, models, and procedure demonstration materials.
- Used for antenatal, postnatal, newborn care, and labor procedure training.
- Provides supervised student practice to enhance clinical skills.
- Well ventilated and spacious to improve psychomotor skills.
