Child Health Nursing

Objectives

The Department of Child Health Nursing will be accountable to:

• To prepare undergraduate and postgraduate students to be compassionate pediatric nurses, competent nurse educators, researchers, and administrators
• To implement curriculum-centered professional practice
• To plan and implement procedures related to neonate and child health
• To enhance overall student growth by integrating theory into clinical skills
• To recognize normal growth and development and deviations
• To provide comprehensive care to normal and sick children
• To focus on neonatal and child health areas like Neonatal resuscitation, IMNCI, Growth & Development, KMC
• To provide preventive, promotive, and rehabilitative child care in hospital and community

Functions

• Conduct teaching-learning activities in child health nursing
• Organize workshops/faculty development programs annually
• Participate in professional activities and organizations
• Develop and implement clinical teaching guidelines
• Prepare evaluation criteria for clinical procedures
• Celebrate health-related days with student participation
• Introduce innovative teaching methods
• Revise teaching manuals as needed
• Ensure research activities and publications yearly
• Conduct departmental meetings regularly
• Manage child health nursing lab activities
